Antibody Boost Android Game Review

“Pew pew… pew pew” goes the anti-bacteria gun which you unleash to KILL.  You are the final defence of your immune system that will destroy all invaders in order to protect your body.  Increase your reaction speed, improve your reflexes and focus your mind to annihilate the waves of germs, bacteria and flu viruses…

Objective: Destroy all to survive.

Gameplay

You’re in an enclosed area which is your screen minus the corners and edges (Think of a gladiator arena on your screen). You only have one weapon at your disposal to shoot down various types of foes. Tap anywhere to shoot and tap with two fingers to boost away from tight spots.  Your enemies will approach you by first spawning anywhere on the edge of your arena and the fun part is how to kill each foe as effectively and efficiently as possible.  The more you exterminate, the higher the score you gain and this is used to compete with other people around the world! But the best part is yet to come…

When you are hit by a projectile or if you make contact with the enemy, you will instantly switch on your final weapon, self destruct – this is the time where you use your dash ability to smash as much as possible, but you don’t have long as it will last less than a second.  Hence the phrase “self destruct”… you will die and your score will be set. No worries, just simply press play and you’ll be back into this addictive and exhilarating game.

There may be no story to follow up all this epicness but your immune system speaks for itself in your biology class of white blood cells (without the guns).  However if you haven’t gotten to that point in your science lessons then you should play this game to gain a vivid image of what actually goes on inside!  The graphics aren’t crisp enough to gain that perfect score but that’s okay, who needs clean graphics when you’re an antibody blowing up all different kinds of infectious diseases every, single, tap of the way.

Rating 4/5: Antibody Boost is Epic and Addictive. It’s unfortunate that the rather odd controls which will most likely send you charging to your death!

Antibody Boost Tips and Tricks:

  • Each enemy has a particular movement speed and pattern (generally walking towards you).  So using this you can selectively destroy the worst ones thus leaving you time to slowly take out the easy enemies.  From what we’ve found, shooters should be destroyed first.  Though the big fat slugs look bad they’re actually slow and easy to clear.
  • A bubble will form where the enemies appear, and using this you can gauge what type of virus is appearing.  If you know how many shots they need to die then you can wipe them out almost as soon as they appear.

Minuum Keyboard Paid v1 2 8 Download Files

Minuum Keyboard APK v1.2.2 Direct Download

This tiny keyboard frees up your screen space—so you interact with more of your content—while allowing you to type fast and accurately. There’s no need to worry about being precise, thanks to magical auto-correction that learns from you.
Most virtual keyboards take an approach similar to cramming a full typewriter into a touchscreen device. Resulting keyboard apps cover up half the usable touchscreen space (or more), obstructing your content. Minuum gives you back your screen space by minimizing the keyboard.
Minuum re-imagines the keyboard by reducing a standard layout to a single line – a continuum of letters – letting you type quickly and accurately without needing large keys. We enable this by auto-correction algorithms that allow highly imprecise typing, knowing what you mean even if you miss every single letter.
The Minuum keyboard for touchscreens is the first step toward a "type anywhere" future. Minuum lets you type using wearable devices like smart watches, game controllers, and more devices of minimum size.

Whats New:
v1.2.2 update:
Fixed crashes on KitKat, particularly affected Pebble owners.
Fixed behaviour (e.g. jumping cursor) in stock Samsung email app and similar apps.
Fixed memory leaks which caused Minuum to slow after extended use.
More logical numbers/letters button in spacebar mode.

Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 joins the budget Android tablet army

Huawei has launched a new 7-inch tablet to join the cheap Android army, the Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth 2.

This 7-inch tablet isn’t just unusual in name, but in features too as it is capable of making phone calls over a 2G or 3G network, just like a smartphone.

Its specs are far from impressive, but could appeal to those looking for an alternative to the Argos MyTablet or Tesco Hudl if the price is right.

Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 Features

The Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 features a 7-inch 1024 x 600p resolution display with 5-point capacitive touch.

It runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8x12 A7 processor with 1GB of RAM and is powered by a 4,100mAh Li-Polymer battery.

Coming with a meagre 4GB of internal storage, it does have a microSD slot supporting cards up to 32GB.

The Youth2 offers Android 4.3 Jelly Bean overlaid with the Huawei Emotion UI 1.6.

As mentioned before, the MediaPad 7 Youth2 can make 2G and 3G phone calls for some Trigger Happy TV style fun.

In the rear is a 3-megapixel camera, paired with a secondary 0.3-megapixel option up front.

With the back looking like a budget, oversized iPhone 5S, Huawei has opted to give the Youth2 a black bezel around its 7-inch display to differentiate it from the competition.

Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 Release Date and Price

Huawei has yet to release any pricing or release information for the tablet/smartphone Youth2, but we expect it will be on par with something like the Tesco Hudl.

Nokia Lumia 1020 press pictures leak ahead of 41MP camera phone unveiling

Claimed Nokia Lumia 1020 pictures have hit the web, with the reported press shots of the upcoming 41-megapixel camera phone leaking via Twitter.

Widely expected to be announced during Nokia’s New York based launch event next week, the Nokia Lumia 1020, a handset which has also done the rounds with EOS branding, is set to be the first phone to bring the Finnish manufacturer’s 41-Megapixel PureView snapper to its flagship Windows Phone line.

Making a premature appearance courtesy of repeated tech tipster @evleaks, the latest Nokia Lumia 1020 images have emerged exactly one week before the manufacturer’s July 11 unveiling.

Following on from the recently launched Nokia Lumia 925, latest Nokia Lumia 1020 rumours have suggested that the Windows Phone 8 powered handset will land as a challenger to the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, a 16-megapixel camera hosting spinoff to the Samsung Galaxy S4 with a 10x optical zoom.

While the newly leaked Nokia Lumia 1020 pictures show a handset remarkably similar to Nokia’s past Lumia offerings, the images have failed to offer a glimpse at the phone’s rear. Past leaked images have pointed to the device sporting a bulbous rear to support the low-light specialist camera.

Offering little details on the phone, the Twitter based leak came with the simple message: “Nokia Lumia 1020 for AT&T, 2013.”

Last month the @evleaks was the first to point to the upcoming Nokia handset becoming the company’s first phone to break through the three digit naming convention. A Tweet from the serial tipster stated: “EOS = Lumia 1020.”

Although Nokia has yet to formally confirm the Nokia Lumia 1020 release, the manufacturer has repeatedly teased the device, recent stating there are “41 million reasons” to tune into next week’s unveiling, a tip that all but confirms the phone’s PureView camera inclusion.

Samsung Tizen smartphone to launch in March

Samsung will launch Tizen smartphones in March, released just after MWC 2014.

The South Korean electronics company has been teasing a Tizen smartphone launch for quite some time. Since May 2012, in fact. In Jnauary last year, Samsung said it would release “competitive” Tizen devices in 2013, then again said a high-end Tizen model would launch in August or September.

However, we still haven’t seen a Samsung Tizen smartphone yet, but the latest rumours is that one will launch sometime around MWC 2014 in February.

Sources close to the company revealed there will be a Tizan smartphone announcement in time for MWC 2014, with a release scheduled in for as early as March.

Apparently, there will also be a Tizen app store announcement from Samsung, which will be ready for when the device launches in the spring.

It has already been confirmed that Tizen devices will launch on February 23, the day before MWC. Now you can expect the Samsung hardware to be shown off there too.

We’re a little sceptical about the validity of the information, but Samsung is supposedly trying to launch a new OS platform to compete with the market monopolising Android and iOS.

With Android and iOS controlling over 90 per cent of the smartphone market globalling, it would be interesting to see if a platform like Tizen could begin to chip away at that majority.

According to IDC data, Android has an 81 per cent share of the global smartphone market, and iOS accounts for another 12.9 per cent.

Tizen is a Linux-based open source operating system that is not constrained by a manufacturer like Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows Phone. Developers can easily create apps that run on Tizen.

If Samsung was to adopt Tizen for its smarphone range, it would control both the hardware and software on the handset, an advantage that currently only its rival Apple has.

Other companies worldwide are also trying to release Tizen handsets. These include Intel, Fujitsu, Huawei, while carriers supporting Tizen including NTT Domoco, Vodafone and Orange.

Google Nexus 5 Availability Carphone Warehouse to offer handset from launch

Following the phone’s official unveiling, Carphone Warehouse has announced its Google Nexus 5 availability plans, with the retailer to stock the phone from launch.

With the Google Nexus 5 release date confirmed for tomorrow, November 1, high street chain Carphone Warehouse has become the first to announce its intentions to stock the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S rival on both pay monthly and SIM-free deals.

While the Google Nexus 5 price has been set at £295 for the SIM-free 16GB option, Carphone Warehouse has announced that it will also offer the handset on a range of pay monthly 3G and 4G tariffs.

What’s more, in an attempt to sugar coat its deals, the retailer has confirmed that the first 1,000 customers to snap up a Nexus 5 on a 4G contract will be rewarded with a free, first-generation, 16GB Google Nexus 7 tablet worth £139.

Partnering the phone with the O2 network, the first Google Nexus 5 deals to be offered by Carphone Warehouse include a £32 per month 3G deal that includes unlimited texts, unlimited calls and a 1GB monthly data allowance. Those after 4G speeds can plump £37 per month to jump to a larger and faster 2GB data allowance.

Google Nexus 5 Specs

An impressive looking handset on paper, the Google Nexus 5 specs sheet sees a range of high-end components make the cut. Manufactured by LG, the Nexus 5 boasts the same 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor as the LG G2, pairing the CPU with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics.

With a 4.95-inch 1080p Full HD taking pride of place up front, the phone adds an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with optical image stabilisation options alongside a secondary, 1.3-megapixel forward-facing camera.

With the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity options being added to by 4G, a feature missing from last year’s Google Nexus 4, the handset has been bestowed with a 2300mAh Lithium-polymer battery which supports wireless charging.

Sony Xperia Z2 UI screenshots leaked

A wide range of Sony Xperia Z2 UI screenshots have leaked online, giving us an extensive view of what Sony will do with Android 4.4 KitKat.

Combining these new screenshots with the hard Xperia Z2 specs and design information leaked earlier this week, we have a very clear view of Sony’s 2014 flagship.

The leaked UI screengrabs reveal a host of key features that will be introduced with Sony’s Android 4.4 KitKat UI and the Xperia Z2, codenamed “Sirius”.

Sony’s UI update for Android 4.4 KitKat is rather huge and brings consumers new features like 4K recording, two home launchers and USB DAC support among other things.

The Sony Xperia Z1 was originally tipped to feature 4K video recording, but it seems the functionality has been reserved for the Z2 as it can clearly be seen inside the new camera app.

Another new camera app addition is “Timeshift Video”, which allows users to record with high frame rates then apply slow-mo after-effects. This may well be similar to the slow-motion video option of the iPhone 5S, which captures video in 120fps 720p HD and then offers the ability to add slow-motion to afterwards.

New display options include “Glove Mode”, a white balance adjustment, a smart backlight control that keeps the screen awake so long as you’re looking at it (similar to the Samsung Smart Stay feature) and smart call handling. The latter allows you to reject calls by shaking the device, answer a call by raising the Z2 to your face and mute the ringtone by turning the phone face down.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z’s double tap screen wake feature is also present in the Z2.

You can also utilise the Z2’s in-built answering machine that is embedded into the dialler. There are options to enable it for certain time periods and choose your own greeting.

Sony has introduced two home launchers, accessed from within the “home” option in the setting menu. The Simple Home is for those who could have difficulty reading the screen, as it offers larger icons and bigger text.

“Xperia Home” is the launcher seen on previous Xperia handsets.

You’ll also be able to play hi-res audio using an USB DAC/DAC amp with the Xperia Z2 – a welcome addition for audio geeks.

There are also a number of new options to manage notifications, the ability to change the default SMS app and personalise the apps present in the status bar.

On the Xperia Z2, when you swipe up you’ll be presented with Google Now and a shortcut to Sony’s “What’s New” feature. From what we can see, it looks like some sort of lifestyle hub for films, music and other content.

You can now switch between Notifications and Quick Settings from the drop down menu, and you can also edit the order of the Quick Settings icons.

HTC One Android 4 2 2 Jelly Bean update hits UK

The eagerly awaited HTC One Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update has started to roll out across UK based iterations of the flagship phone, the manufacturer has confirmed.

With a European release having kicked off earlier this month, HTC has now announced that UK based users of its flagship phone can now download the eagerly awaited HTC One Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. There is currently no word as to when American owners of the quad-core Samsung Galaxy S4 rival will benefit from the latest rendition of Google’s hugely popular Android mobile operating system.

Confirmed via Twitter as being UK bound, the new HTC One Android 4.2.2 update sees users benefit from a selection of new lock screen widgets, the new Android Daydream wallpaper and a variety of new quick settings options.

Speaking via the official HTC UK Twitter feed, a company spokesperson stated: "The 4.2.2. update for the #HTCOne started rolling out in the UK from today. Download it now: Settings > About > Software Updates > Check now."

More than just a stock Android update, the arrival of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the HTC One sees the Taiwanese manufacturer bring a number of HTC Sense UI improvements, with Instagram added to Blinkfeed and a battery percentage indicator making an arrival. A further addition sees Google Now accessible simply by swiping up from the home key.

While not all HTC One owners can yet make use of the update, with a complete rollout expected to take some time, those with access will be able to find the over-the-air software patch in the ‘Software updates’ section of the phone’s settings menus.

HTC One Features

One of the most impressive smartphones on the market today, the HTC One pairs a stunning 4.7-inch 1080p Full HD display with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

Benefitting from a stunningly finished brushed metal form factor, the HTC One pairs a 4-ultrapixel rear-mounted camera with a secondary snapper up front and stereo Boomsound speakers on the handset’s fore. It features 32GB of internal storage.

Spotify buying Echo Nest is great news for fans horrible news for everyone else

Around the world, every day, a lot of people listen to a lot of music. In fact, more people are listening to more music than ever before.

Spotify

Relatively speaking, only a tiny percentage of those people use Spotify for that listening, but its enough that the Swedish company has grown rapidly to become the second biggest music streaming service in the world (the biggest being YouTube, of course).

But theres another company that you might not have heard of which has an even deeper relationship with music listeners.

The Echo Nest was founded in a kitchen in 2005 by a pair of graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who were frustrated about how hard it was to decide what to listen to. In the nine years since, theyve built a database that covers 2,680,446 artists, 35,421,033 songs, and an astonishing 1,168,22,555,673 datapoints about the relationships between them.

Music intelligence

The company calls this data "music intelligence", and with good reason. For every song in its database, the Echo Nest knows a huge amount, from basic variables like artist, title, length, tempo, loudness and key signature to much deeper properties of music - like how "energetic" or "danceable" it is. It can even pair up similar listeners.

Armed with this information, the Echo Nest is better than anyone else in the world at predicting what youll want to listen to next.

Thatll be why Spotify has just bought the company for an undisclosed sum. Spotify has in the past used the Echo Nests services to power its music recommendations service (before it built its own algorithms), but more than 400 other companies around the world are using it today - including Spotifys direct competitors like Rdio, iHeartRadio, Deezer and Rhapsody, as well as others like eMusic, Twitter Music, Vevo and the BBC.

Spotify has promised to keep the Echo Nests data feeds free and open for developers. "The developer community is crucial to the success of both Spotify and The Echo Nest and will remain a priority for the combined companies," said the company in a statement. But the acquisition will still cause significant ripples in the music streaming world, in two ways.

The first is that Spotifys competitors are going to need to find a new source of data. Spotify was cagey when TheNextWeb asked the company what will happen with its direct competitors, saying: "In the few cases where The Echo Nest does work with direct competitors we will work with them to understand these relationships and determine the next business steps."

Translated, that means dont rely on anything once contracts are up.

Fleeing the Nest

Thats bad news if your favourite music streaming service isnt Spotify. "Unless startups are willing to create highly skilled teams of musicologists, machine learning PhDs and engineers that know how to tap big data, a company isnt going to get close to what The Echo Nest can do," said digital music blogger Jon Maples in a blog post.

But no doubt some will give it a go, or follow Beats Musics lead in putting more emphasis human curation, which could spark a wave of innovation that ultimately makes music recommendations better for everyone.

The second way this changes the music streaming landscape is that it pumps up the value of Spotify in advance of its rumoured IPO. Bloomberg reports that the company is speaking to Goldman Sachs Group about raising a credit facility, a move that often precedes an initial public offering. With the Echo Nest under its belt, Spotify is worth considerably more to investors than alone.

If youre a Spotify user, you should be happy about the move - the company has inherited a treasure-trove of music data, which can only make Spotifys products better. "With The Echo Nest joining Spotify, we will make a big leap forward in our quest to play you the best music possible," said Daniel Ek in the companys statement.

But if youre not, you might find the musical rug being whipped out from underneath you. The music streaming market is bloated - there are too many companies trying to do extremely similar things. Analysts have long predicted a thinning of the ranks, but as yet it hasnt happened. We might be witnessing the first salvo in the great music streaming service die-off of 2014.

Karbonn Titanium S5 Gaming Review Multitasking Review and Battery review

Karbonn is doing great work with their mobile phones. The Titanium series of Karbonn are just amazing! Karbonn Titanium S5, Karbonn Titanium S1, all are amazing. Because of this, Karbonn stands on 4th position of best mobile makers in India! Karbonn are launching superb Android mobile phones and are getting good reputation in Indian market. The Device, Ill be showing you today is Karbonn Titanium S5+ (Plus). First of all, let me clear that this device is a competitor not a competitor of Micromax A250 Turbo! You can compare it with Canvas Magus, Canvas HD, Canvas A210 Canvas 4 and other Micromax devices because its specifications are not that much good as expected but the price amount is expected totally unexpected! We expected it will be more than 15 thousands but we found that it is just 11 thousands.
The device is having new MediaTek MT chipset which is MediaTek MT6582, I dont know much about this chipset but some basic things of it.

First, let see the specifications of Karbonn Titanium S5+

Karbonn Titanium S5+ Specifications
  • Dual SIM (Dual SIM support)
  • 5-inch qHD IPS capacitive touch screen, One-Cell display with 960 × 540 pixels resolution
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS
  • 1 GB RAM, 4 GB Internal Storage which can be extended to 32 GB by SD Card
  • 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor
  • Mali 400-MP2 clocked @500MHz
  • 8 Mega Pixels camera with LED Flash and 0.3 VGA front camera
  • 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth with A2DP and GPS
  • 3.5 mm Audio Jack
  • 1800 mAh Battery

The super device is having 5 inch qHD IPS Display with a resolution of 960x540 and thats not actually great. You get Dual SIM support with Dual SIM standby in this device. Another thing which is not good about this device is Android 4.2 Jellybean. Has Karbonn released any device which has Android 4.3? NO! Has they provided any 4.3 JB update for their devices? NO! I mean why dont they release devices having 4.3 or 4.4 KitKat? Okay, the RAM is good and the storage is also good. The processor seems to be interesting. I opened MediaTeks official website and found that there were no any chipset like MT6582! I think its a mistake by MediaTek that they has not updated their website anyway, I wont comment on it because I dont know this chipset. But it is 1.3 GHz so I think its elder brother of MediaTek MT6572 because even it was 1.3 GHz. The only difference is that one is Dual Core and second is Quad Core. Mali 400 is a good GPU which has been pushed to S5+. There will be no issues in graphics because of this chipset. Camera is also impressive. 8 Mega Pixels is good but 0.3 Mega Pixels is very bad. No quality at all. Other things are good like 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth etc.

Now, I will tell you my reviews upon its Gaming, Multitasking, Storage and battery backup.
Lets see the gaming review of this device first.

Gaming Review of Karbonn Titanium S5+

After seeing the specifications of this device, I think you can run HD Games like Temple Run 2, Temple Run: Oz, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Fifa 13, Subway Surfers etc. because all the games work in devices with 512 MB RAM and 1/1.3 GHz Dual Core processor and because this device is having 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor and 1 GB of RAM, I think it can easily pickup these games and run them without lags.

Multitasking Review of Karbonn Titanium S5+

Multitasking is a common feature of all the Android devices. You cannot can run many light heavy application side by side and switch between them easily them because there is enough RAM to handle all those applications easily. You can run heavy applications like FxGuru, Office Pro, Focal etc. easily without lags and switch between them easily.

Storage Review of Karbonn Titanium S5+

You get 4 GB of internal memory with this device and which is enough for normal users (not superusers!)  but for gamers, it is too less! Most of the games cover more than 1 GB of storage and no gamer has only 1 or 2 games! Theyve and play more than 5-6 games so the storage is less for them, anyway, but it is not too less. Most of the devices has 4 GB only.

Battery Backup Review of Karbonn Titanium S5+

The battery backup is amazing not too good and not too bad. 1800 mAh battery is good but what about for the people who mainly uses their device for playing games, using internet, calling? If we see by the eyes of them then we will find that battery is actually too less. 2000 mAh battery should be must, even for a normal user.

Samsung tipped to launch new Windows Phone flagship in 2014

Samsung could launch a new Windows Phone flagship model in 2014 according to some new information.

Both HTC and Samsung have only launched a few select Windows Phone handsets, choosing to focus on Android rather than Microsoft’s mobile OS for their smartphone ranges.

However, various new clues have emerged suggesting Samsung could launch a new Windows Phone device this year.

A Samsung device with the model number SM-W750Vhas been spotted in a Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) listing and on a User Agent (UA) profile accessed via the Samsung Mobile site.

According to the listings, the Samsung Windows Phone 8 device will feature a 5-inch Full 1080 x 1920p HD display and have 4G LTE compatibility.

The UA profile hints most notably to the Windows Phone 8 OS as it reveals the Samsung device includes the Internet Explorer browser.

Earlier reports suggested Microsoft had offered Samsung a $1 billion (£608 million) incentive to launch continue working with the Windows Phone OS, which could be why Samsung is supposedly launching a new WP8 device.

Rumours also suggest that Sony will launch a Windows Phone handset this year.

There’s no further information on the alleged high-end Samsung Windows Phone 8 handset, but it could be part of the Samsung line-up for MWC 2014.

Google Nexus 5 Delays Delivery wait extended to 3 weeks

Google Nexus 5 delays are increasing, with the recently unveiled Android 4.4 KitKat powered handset now facing five week shipping waits in the UK.

With the Google Nexus 5 having been made available to consumers a week ago, the Halloween launched handset has proven highly popular with consumers, with certain iterations of the phone now facing “4-5 week” delays.

Although the 16GB version of the phone in white will ship to consumers tomorrow, November 8, according to the Google Play Store listing, orders of the same 16GB handset just in black will now not ship to customers until just before the Christmas period.

For wannabe owners of the 32GB black version of the phone, however, Google Nexus 5 delays are considerably worse with the handset already listed as "out of stock."

With a high-end array of specs partnered with a wallet-friendly price tag, the Google Nexus 5, like the Google Nexus 4 before it, has grabbed consumers’ attentions. Available in both 16GB and 32GB storage capacities, the two versions of the phone are priced at just £299 and £339 respectively.

With a 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running the show, the Google Nexus 5 specs sheet is further enhanced by 2GB of RAM and the new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Packing an 8-megapixel, optical image stabilisation hosting rear-mounted camera with a secondary, 1.3-megapixel snapper up front, the Google Nexus 5 features list also includes NFC and 4G connectivity options as well as a 2300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery and wireless charging capabilities.

With Google Nexus 5 stock shortages having already grabbed headlines, versions of the phone sold out in the US within just an hour of launch.

Although the Google Play store is short on Google Nexus 5 stocks, the handset is also available through a range of third-party retailers and networks in the UK, including Carphone Warehouse, Three and O2.

Is this the ultimate bike lock £110 device texts when thieves are trying to steal your bicycle and tracks it if they succeed

Technology’s attempt to thwart the best efforts of thieves can often fall short.

But a new smart lock could change that by being able to protect against every possible theft attempt on a bicycle.

Berlin-based group LOCK8 claims its device is the world’s first ever alarm protected, trackable, smart bicycle lock.

The triangular device – which is compatible with 95 per cent of bikes - is attached to a normal bike chain and equipped with Bluetooth technology.

It can be locked and unlocked remotely using Android or iOS smartphones and tablets, and has special sensors to detect thieves.

For instance, a smart cable will warn if a thief attempts to use a bolt cutter, an accelerometer can detect drills, while a temperature sensor alerts the owner to blowtorches.

LOCK8 will then send a text message to the owner and sound an ear-splitting alarm to let passers-by know that a theft is taking place.

Given that 91 per cent of today people keep their mobile phone within 3 feet of them, 24 hours a day, the feature means that owners will always know whether their bike is safe.

If the thief does manage to get away with the bike, the device also uses GPS and GSM technology allowing bike owners to find where it has ended up.

Users can swipe the app to or set up the system to automatically unlock when they get within a few feet of the bicycle.

The clever gadget runs on reusable batteries that can be charged through a USB lead.

It was created by Franz Salzmann and Daniel Zajarias-Fainsod, who came up with the idea after their bikes were stolen.

Mr Salzmann, 28, from Berlin, said: We were talking about bicycle locks and wondered why there wasnt a smart bike lock, so we decided to invent one.

When triggered a push notification is sent to your smartphone and a painfully loud alarm is sounded on the bike.

When it is released it will work with iOS and Android and we are planning that a Windows version will be available in the future.

The Lock8 could also be used by bike-rental agencies as a way to keep track of their fleets and keep them from being stolen.

We have had requests from cities from all over the world wanting to use LOCK8 as a cornerstone of their bike sharing scheme, said Mr Salzmann.

The device costs around £110 and is available for pre-order.
